Connections
Donatello and Brunelleschi: When Donatello was a young boy, his father sent him to receive art schooling at a goldsmith's shop. The owner of the shop, Lorenzo Ghiberti, had, for a time, worked in the same shop as Brunelleschi. Possibly, some of Donatello's artistic style may have been derived from Brunelleschi, via Lorenzo Ghiberti.

Donatello and Michelangelo: Donatello and Michelangelo both created a sculpture entitled "David." Donatello sculpted his "David" in the early 1430s, while Michelangelo sculpted his "David" in the early 1500s. Donatello's "David" is much less humanist than Michelangelo's, portraying David's victory as more god-inspired than a work of man. Possibly, Michelangelo's style in which he sculpted his "David" was influenced by Donatello's interpertion of the famous biblical scene.
